Locust sits where NC 24/27 meets NC 200, the western door of Stanly County, close enough to Charlotte that it keeps growing. The city runs a real sewer system, with gravity, vacuum and low-pressure lines feeding the West Stanly plant in Oakboro. But the system covers a couple thousand connections, and plenty of homes in and around Locust were built on septic and still are.
If yours is one of them, Dahl Septic Services can help. We’re about 15 miles east in Albemarle, licensed and insured (NC license #9407I), with an owner who has put in over a decade in the septic trade. Call or text (704) 218-9070.
Septic tank pumping in Locust
Pump the tank every 3 to 5 years and the drain field lasts far longer. Wait too long and solids escape into the field, which is how a routine service call turns into a repair.
We locate and open the lids, pump the tank, check both baffles and the outlet filter, and tell you what condition it’s in. If your system has a pump chamber, we check the pump and alarm too. Septic tank pumping | Book online
Septic inspections for Locust home sales
A Locust listing might be an older house near downtown, a newer home on an acre outside city limits, or something in between. Each septic system is different. Before you close, know what you’re buying:
- We find the tank with a probe and a sonde.
- We inspect the tank, baffles and liquid level and look over the drain field area.
- A camera goes into the lines where needed.
- The written report reaches you the same or next day.
Pumping the tank at the same visit is recommended but optional. Septic system inspections
New systems, repairs and maintenance
Building on a lot outside the sewer lines? In Stanly County the process runs through a soil and site evaluation (backhoe pits required), then an Improvement Permit, then a Construction Authorization before building permits are issued. The Improvement Permit is good for five years. We install conventional and engineered systems and can work alongside your builder. New septic systems
Repairs: broken lines, failed pumps, saturated drain fields, including systems someone else installed. Septic repairs
Have a low-pressure pipe, drip or pump-tank system? Those need scheduled operator inspections, and Dahl Septic Services has a state-certified subsurface operator. Subsurface maintenance

How do I know if I’m on city sewer?
Look for a sewer charge on your City of Locust bill. No charge means you’re on septic.
How long does a new septic system take in Stanly County?
It depends on the county’s evaluation schedule and weather. Start with Central Permitting, and call us once you have your Improvement Permit.
Do you install septic systems for new homes in Locust?
Yes, conventional and engineered systems, once the county has issued the permits.
