Anson County Environmental Health (704-994-3397) does the soil evaluation for a new system. Its application spells out the prep, and if the lot isn’t marked right the county charges a revisit fee:
- Flag property lines and irons every 50 feet.
- Stake the exact corners of the house or mobile home, plus the driveway and any other buildings.
- If the house site can’t be seen from the road, clear and mark a path to it. Don’t remove any soil when you clear.
- Put the red flag the county gives you at the road.
The county charges its own fee for the soil evaluation; check with Anson County Environmental Health for the current amount. Applications expire 12 months after the county receives them. If the ground is rocky, the county may ask for pits to be dug.
