Weddington’s own land use plan puts it plainly: the majority of buildings in town are not connected to Union County’s sewer system. Large lots and conservation subdivisions along Providence Road (NC 16), Weddington Road (NC 84) and Rea Road mean most homes here treat their own wastewater, and those systems need regular attention.
Dahl Septic Services pumps, inspects, repairs and maintains septic systems across Weddington. We’re licensed and insured (NC license #9407I), and our owner has been doing septic work for over a decade. Call or text (704) 218-9070.
Pumping
On a big Weddington lot, the septic tank is out of sight and out of mind until the downstairs toilet gurgles. Don’t wait for that. Most households should pump every 3 to 5 years.
We find the lids, pump the tank empty and check the baffles and effluent filter while it’s open. If something looks off, such as roots, a cracked baffle or water running back from the field, you’ll hear about it that day. Septic tank pumping | Book online
Inspections for buyers and sellers
A septic system on a large lot can have more than one tank, a pump chamber or an alarm panel. A buyer should know what they’re getting before the due-diligence period ends.
What our inspection covers:
- tank located with a probe and a sonde (no guesswork, no torn-up yard)
- tank, baffles, liquid level and any pump chamber and alarm checked
- camera inspection of the lines where needed
- written report the same or next day
A pump-out during the inspection is a smart add-on but isn’t required. Septic system inspections
Why some Weddington lots need special systems
The town’s plan describes Weddington’s soils as mostly Cecil gravelly sandy clay loam and Tarrus gravelly silt loam. It notes that high clay content, shallow bedrock and slope limit where septic drain fields can go, and that clay soils drain too slowly for an ideal septic site. That’s why you’ll see low-pressure pipe, drip and other engineered systems on some Weddington properties, and why one recent development proposal on NC 84 planned privately permitted treatment systems instead of conventional tanks.
Engineered systems need scheduled operator inspections under Union County’s operation and maintenance program. Dahl Septic Services has a state-certified subsurface operator. Subsurface maintenance for engineered systems
Repairs and replacements
We fix broken lines, failed pumps and drain fields that have stopped taking water, on systems we installed and on ones we didn’t. A replacement starts with a Union County site visit and repair permit; new systems and replacements are quoted per site. Septic repairs | New systems
“Very thorough. Was very helpful with the inspection and helpful with my questions.”

Permits and records
Weddington septic permits, records and existing-system inspections come from Union County Environmental Health (704-283-3553, unioncountync.gov). The county inspects the existing system before approving additions, pools, decks or outbuildings, which matters on lots where the repair area is already tight.

Weddington septic FAQ
Is Weddington on sewer?
Mostly not. Sewer is expanding in parts of town, but the town’s plan says most buildings rely on private systems.
My system has an alarm panel. What is it?
Usually a pump tank or an engineered system. The alarm means the pump isn’t keeping up or has failed. Call or text us, and limit water use until it’s checked.
How do I look up my septic permit?
Union County’s online septic permit search, or call Environmental Health at 704-283-3553.
Can you inspect a house with two tanks?
Yes. Tell us when you book so we plan time for each tank.
