Hemby Bridge is one of Union County’s smallest towns: about a square mile and a half, with roughly 1,600 residents at the 2020 census. Most people here have an Indian Trail mailing address, and plenty of them don’t realize they live in a separate town until tax time. Whatever your envelope says, if your home has a septic tank, we can take care of it.
Dahl Septic Services is a licensed and insured septic contractor (NC license #9407I), led by an owner with over a decade in the septic field. Call or text (704) 218-9070.
Pumping
Hemby Bridge sits in the corner where Union County meets Mecklenburg, along Mill Grove Road, Secrest Short Cut Road and Indian Trail-Fairview Road. Some homes here are on Union County sewer and some aren’t. If yours isn’t, the tank needs pumping on a schedule, usually every 3 to 5 years.
What a pump-out with us includes:
- Locating and uncovering the lids
- Pumping the tank completely
- Checking the baffles and the outlet filter, if there is one
- Telling you plainly what we saw and when to pump next

Inspections
Buying here? Ask the seller for the septic permit, then have the system inspected before your due-diligence period ends. We locate the tank with a probe and a sonde, inspect the tank and lines, use a camera where needed and get you a written report the same or next day. A pump-out at the same visit is recommended but not required.
Selling? An inspection before you list lets you fix surprises on your own schedule rather than the buyer’s. Septic inspections
Repairs, new systems and maintenance
When a drain field stops taking water or a line breaks, we diagnose it and fix it, including systems another company installed. If a system needs replacing, Union County Environmental Health evaluates the site and issues the repair permit; we do the work once it’s issued. Septic repairs | New systems
If your home has a pump tank or a low-pressure pipe field, Union County requires scheduled operator inspections. We offer subsurface maintenance for these systems.
Who handles what in Hemby Bridge
The town is small enough that Union County handles most of the land-development work. Zoning and development approvals go through Union County, and septic permits, records and existing-system inspections go through Union County Environmental Health (704-283-3553, unioncountync.gov). If you’re planning a pool, garage or addition, call the county first. They’ll need to inspect the existing septic system before they sign off.

FAQ
I have an Indian Trail address. Am I in Hemby Bridge?
Possibly. Union County’s GIS (GoMAPS) shows town limits for any parcel. For septic it doesn’t matter much: permits come from the county either way.
How do I find my septic permit?
Use Union County’s online septic permit search, or call Environmental Health at 704-283-3553.
Can I connect to sewer instead?
Ask Union County Water about your address or parcel ID. Availability varies by street, and capacity has been limited.
